SpatulataThe Spatulata finish is pure luxury. Pioneered by the Egyptians, improved by the Romans, it became known as stucco lustro veneziano by the Venetians. For many, it is the ultimate Venetian finish, certainly the one with the highest sheen and the most intriguing texture. Spatulata venetian plasters are very different from Armourcoat’s polished plaster, and are applied in a thickness of 12-14 mils, as opposed to 60-80 mils for polished plaster. Traditionally applied in 10-15 fine coats and polished with hot irons, modern additives allow application in just 5-7 layers and polish to a glassy shine with a small steel blade or trowel. |
